The School organised by CSIC, Sevilla, is aimed primarily at PhD candidates and early postdoctoral researchers, offering training on various aspects of cyclodextrin pharmacology, and biomedical applications, all within the broader context of sustainability.

In this context, advanced models in substitution of animal studies for drug development will be discussed. Scientific Masterclasses by external experts will be scheduled on the first two days. Extra classes in soft skills are planned on the third day. Check out the programme:

A key objective of the School is to foster networking opportunities among participants.

1st Bicyclos Cyclodextrin Workshop

On Day 1, we started with with students sharing results and plans from their secondments, then moved along to hear from PIs about challenges, possibilities and wishes regarding the project.

Day 2 was dedicated to science with our invited speakers Matthieu Sollogoub, Francesco Trotta and Dina Yannakopoulou followed by lectures from Jose Manuel Garcia Fernandez and Milo Malanga PhD (dreaming about making synthesis simple and sustainable) and we created some hypothetic ventures with Gergely Toth.

Day 3-4 was a mix of science and soft skills with analytical lectures (Ilse Manet and Szabolcs Béni) and cyclodextrins in electrosensors (Maria Antonietta Casulli). The last sessions of the workshop dealt with soft skills rather than science. Tamas Sohajda shared insights of using social media and AI for making science more accessible. Then Ilse Manet, Maria Antonietta Casulli and Barbara Ventura delivered a workshop about grantwriting.

And most importantly, behold the organizing committee from Eötvös Loránd University and CarboHyde:

The Bicyclos International Workshop will be held in Budapest from September 24th to September 26th.

The workshop is open to all R&I personnel from both public and private sectors who are interested in carbohydrate research, especially cyclodextrins. On September 24-25, there will be seminars on the sustainable synthesis of carbohydrates and their derivatives, including their characterization and application in devices. The following days, September 25-26, will cover topics such as launching a spinoff company, with seminars by experts from CarboHyde and Cyclarity Therapeutics, and guidance on writing an MSCA proposal, featuring sessions led by coordinators of MSCA projects, which will also include practical exercises.

Register here: Bicyclos International Workshop on September 24-26, 2024

A registration fee of 225 Euro applies and comprises participation in the event, digital copies of the seminar slides, lunches on 24-25 September, and coffee breaks on 24-25-26 September. Registration fees do not apply to Bicyclos staff members.
