Alpha-cyclodextrin is a fascinating carbohydrate molecule

Clinical studies suggest that αCD may help:
– Lower LDL cholesterol and triglycerides
– Support healthy weight management when combined with lifestyle changes
– Improve post-meal glucose control, contributing to metabolic health

Would you try it out in your supplement menu?

As research continues, we’re excited to see how cyclodextrins like αCD can be integrated into future nutritional and therapeutic solutions.

Alpha-cyclodextrin (αCD) is more than just a fascinating carbohydrate molecule – it’s gaining recognition as a supportive tool in weight and cholesterol management.

Thanks to its unique ring-shaped structure, αCD can bind dietary fats in the digestive tract, reducing their absorption.

CarboHyde Poster Prize

To be awarded at the 8th European Cyclodextrin Conference

CarboHyde is pleased to sponsor a Poster Prize recognizing the industrially most relevant research presented at the conference.

The award will be granted to a single poster presenter whose work demonstrates outstanding potential for industrial application, as selected by the attending members of CarboHyde.

Prize:
• Award certificate (diploma)
• Fully funded two-week research scholarship at CarboHyde in Budapest, including hands-on laboratory training and mentorship.

The scholarship is intended to support the continuation of the awardee’s research and to foster collaborative development with CarboHyde, with a view to translating academic findings into industrial solutions.

We look forward to engaging with talented researchers and supporting innovation in cyclodextrin science.

Julia, what was it like to do a secondment at CarboHyde?

“I most certainly loved learning something completely new every day!

I done a bit of chemistry in secondary school and then first year of uni and then I was essentially purely biology.

So I know this may seem like an obvious thing since we’re all in science but I really do love learning and getting to see how it works and actually see it happening infront of me was really cool.

The chemistry behind cyclodextrins and then seeing their applications in biology just go hand in hand, and I am one of those people that want to understand everything I’m doing to get the full picture.

It can give me a better perspective on what I’m doing and I can start to see things from another angle as well and question thing differently.”

Julia Krakowiak spent a few weeks in our labs supported by the Bicyclos HEurope grant. (the handsome fellow is our CSO, Milo Malanga)

Hope to see you again soon!
